Open ~1999 approximate? Can anyone verify the exact date?
Need more info and photos.
Its got to be before 1999. I thought there was a listing for this venue. I’ve been here before probably the first time being around 2001 for the showing of Moulin Rouge. The auditoriums are all about the same size, with stadium seating. Nothing is remarkable about them that I can recall. At least one auditorium is 3D capable and at least two for DP.
there was a United Artists theater here in Rockville in the same general area, but not in the exact location – I remember it because that’s where I saw ‘Robocop 2’ in 1990.
New seating capacities at this theater following the installation of Regal’s new “king size” recliners (via Fandango’s reserved seating service):
Theater 1 – 200 seats
Theater 2 – 94 seats
Theater 3 – 57 seats
Theater 4 – 88 seats
= Theater 5 – 101 seats
Theater 6 – 119 seats
Theater 7 – 107 seats
Theater 8 – 49 seats
Theaters 9, 10, & 11 – 53 seats
Theater 12 – 80 seats
Theater 13 – 40 seats
There were actually two different theaters prior to this complex – the Rockville Mall Twin (1972-1980) and the United Artist Rockville Metro Center complex that had ten theaters on three levels ranging in size from 520 – 175 seats (opened June 9, 1989)
The venue has made the latest Regal closure list; no firm closing date is associated with that.
