Located in the South Hurstville suburb of Sydney. The Paramount Theatre was opened on 4th October 1934. Seating was provided on a single level, with a raised stepped section at the rear. It was operated by Western Suburbs Cinemas Ltd. In June 1950, it was taken over by Hoyts Theatres chain and re-named Hoyts South Hurstville.
The Hoyts South Hurstville was closed on 11th April 1959 with “Me and the Colonel” and “The Flying Scot”. It was converted into a supermarket, followed by a recreation centre.
It operated as the Civic Video rental store which had closed in mid-2016. There is a gymnasium at the rear of the building (possibly on the former stage?). In September 2018 the building was put up ‘For Sale’ with plans for demolition and to build housing.

I think it is also a newsagent on the right hand side at the front of the building. The Civic Video rental store has closed down. Unknown might be where now besides the newsagent on the right hand side of the building.
The newsagent is closed too.
There is a Subway takeaway store on the left hand corner of the building at the front(still open i think?)!!
There is also a gym at the back of the building(Curves).
The Subway store may closed down too?
There is gym in the back of the building called F45 Blakehurst(possibly Curves Gym renamed?).
