Located in the south Sydney suburb of Hurstville. The Civic Theatre was opened on 17th April 1916. It was operated by Western Suburbs Cinemas Ltd. It was one of the largest cinemas in the suburbs of Sydney. Taken over by Hoyt’s Theatres in 1944.
The Civic Theatre was closed on 11th October 1969 with Debbie Reynolds in “The Biggest Bundle of Them All” and Elvis Presley in “Live a Litle, Love a Little”.
It became a furniture store and was later demolished.
