One of Lakeland’s, short lived drive-in theatres was the Harlem Drive-In. It was advertised for Negro Patrons only. It opened on June 7, 1954, screening the 1953 drama “Houdini” starring Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. The second feature was the 1952 war drama “Retreat Hell” with Frank Lovejoy and Richard Carlson with a cartoon. It was opened by Mrs. Charles Tracy and could part 200-cars. In looking at theatre advertisements it looks like it closed in December of 1954. It is now the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park.

Thanks, Mike. I’m glad to hear from someone about it!
Source 1956 Motion picture Almanac, wish it had more.
Thanks, Mike
This was about a mile north of the Silver Moon drive-in. I upload an aerial of both drive-ins from 1957 from the USGS.
Approx location for this drive-in was around 100 Gober Street, although this street did not exist at the time the theatre was open.
The site now, might be just the ramps(and entrance or exit road?) and fence and gate along the front of tne site.
There is no trace of the Harlem Drive-In remaining. It is mostly an open field, but there are no ramps or any indication that a drive-in was once there.
