Initially opened as the Charlottetown Mall Cinemas with four screens in the early-1990’s. Empire Theatres took over operations in 2003 with the theatre being expanded to 8 screens. It was renamed the Studio 8.
The theatre features stadium seating, automated box offices, digital projectiom, 3D, Real Deal Tuesdays and first run attractions. It was taken over by Cineplex in 2013.

Cineplex took over this theatre in 2013 upon the sale of Empire’s 24 Atlantic Theatres. Now renamed Cineplex Cinemas Charlottetown.
