Bridge Theatre

The Bridge Theatre was part of the Weinberg Virginia Theatres and later operated by Bedford Theatres. Seating was listed at 430. It was open by 1940 and closed in the early-1960’s. Both the Bridge Theatre and the older and larger Liberty Theatre, were owned by Weinberg Virginia Theaatre. Looking at the buildings today there is no tell tale signs that they were ever theatres.

The Bridge Theatre opened its doors on June 6, 1938 with Deanna Durbin in “Mad About Music” along with a few unnamed shorts. It was closed on October 11, 1959 with Danny Kaye in “The Five Pennies” and Paul Newman in “Rally Round The Flag Boys” with no extras, and the former theater was converted into a Westinghouse Laundromat afterward.
