Located in Nantwich, Cheshire. Originally built as the Ebenezer Chapel. It was converted into the New Picturedrome in 1912. It was closed in 1919.
Re-opened as the Cosy Cinema on 23rd December 1920, it was listed as (Closed) in 1937, but soon re-opened as the Cosy Super Cinema, operated by Southan Morris’s S.M. Super Cinemas chain. The proscenium was 16 feet wide.
It was taken over by the Newcastle based Essoldo Cinemas chain on 26th August 1954. It was soon closed. Today, it operates as Gregory’s nightclub.

Hi everyone – my Grandma Ivy Lyons managed this cinema in the 20-30’s she was a young mother with two children and her and her twin sister raised the children – my mother and uncle. I live in Australia but I have heard my mother talk about how her mum ran 2 cinemas this one and the Palladium . One day I hope to visit to see them but if anyone has any information about them I would appreciate it. Glad I found this site anyway. My email is
