Regal Cinema

Located in Nantwich, Cheshire. Ye Old Wyche Cinema Theatre was opened on 11th October 1920. It featured a brick turreted tower on its corner entrance, and Tudor style gables along the side walls. Inside the auditorium it had a 25 feet wide proscenium and there was a small stage for variety acts.

In the late-1930’s it was taken over by the Southan Morris chain of S.M. Super Cinemas Ltd. and was re-named Regal Cinema.

Taken over by the Newcastle based Essoldo Cinemas chain on 26th August 1954, they installed CinemaScope. The Regal Cinema was closed on 17th September 1966.

It was converted into offices for Chatwins, an adjacent bakery.
