Some of the movies that were showing at the Regency during Christmas 1990: The Russia House, Kindergarten Cop, Look Who’s Talking Too, Mermaids, Edward Scissorhands, Misery, Three Men and a Little Lady.

Let’s see: I saw Edward Scissorhands, Misery, Kindergarten Cop, Look Who’s Talking Too, and…can’t remember the other one…

I also found that Predator 2 opened at the Regency but it was likely gone by Christmas.

My favorite memory of the Regency is June 24, 1989. I saw the first showing of the day of Batman, and upon exiting, found two tickets for a late matinee on the ground, so I saw the same movie twice in one day.

The last movie I saw there before it closed was Mystery Men.

After nearly a decade and a half, St Charles County will have an AMC theater again, in the fall of 2014.

A bit of irony that the planned new theatre will have 8 screens. Eight screens was “obsolete” in 2000 when the Regency Square closed. Must be a different spokesperson.

I also believe it’s because the theater is intended to be an “art house” theater, at least partially. But you raise a valid point, JAlex. Highly ironic…also, this will be on the property where Noah’s Ark used to be, I believe. We’ll see if this catches on.

This is a replacement of the Cave Springs Cinema I & II in nearby St. Peters.
