The Daily News of Los Angeles reported that the Cinemark 22 opened on May 19, 1999. Cinemark paid the city $2.7 million for the land and spent about $18 million in construction of the theatre, which is near the Lancaster municipal stadium.
With total seating of 3,660, an IMAX screen was installed in the largest 500-seat auditorium in April of 2011. Capacity in the other stadiums ranges from 125 to 400 seats.
Nearby was the Cinemark Movies 12, built in 1990, which was turned into a discount theatre and closed in June 2020(it has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
