The 947-seat Sherman Theatre opened in 1917 in downtown Regina. On January 23, 1922, Famous Players took it over and renamed it the Grand Theatre. It was remodeled in a Stramline Moderne style by architectural firm Green-Blankenstein-Russell and Associates, reopening on October 4, 1949 with Marjorie Main & Percy Kilbride in “Ma & Pa Kettle”. It was closed in 1957. The Grand Theatre was later demolished with other neighboring buildings to make way for construction of The Bay department store.
