This opened on January 15th, 1969. Grand opening ad in photo section.
I was a district manager for Sameric, Pilgrim Gardens was one of my theaters. During the run of “Stand by Me” ,Phil Collins I town with Genesis, attended a show sitting in the balcony which was usually closed to patrons.
DO, how many seats did this theater have?
I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark here.Plus many more movies.
HbHaas : Somehow the number 900 seats sticks in my head. As remember the booking pecking order in those days was Eric Twin Ardmore,Eric Wynnewood, then Eric zlawrence park ,Eric Pgrim Gardens and then Eric Twin Barclay Sw, then Eric Terminal. The Ardmore was home to Jack Murray who was doorman for 30+ years. Pilgrim rarely used the balcony
As many times as i went to this theater I never knew it had the balcony
United Artists last operated the Eric Pilgrim Gardens until closing for the final time on June 30, 1989 with “Road House”. It was converted later that year to a QVC-merchandized store owned by the QVC network themselves. That place was also long-closed and a Dollar Tree was at its site.
