Last operated by United Artists Theater Circuit Inc.
United Artists last operated the Eric Pilgrim Gardens until closing for the final time on June 30, 1989 with “Road House”. It was converted later that year to a QVC-merchandized store owned by the QVC network themselves. That place was also long-closed and a Dollar Tree was at its site.
As many times as i went to this theater I never knew it had the balcony
HbHaas : Somehow the number 900 seats sticks in my head. As remember the booking pecking order in those days was Eric Twin Ardmore,Eric Wynnewood, then Eric zlawrence park ,Eric Pgrim Gardens and then Eric Twin Barclay Sw, then Eric Terminal. The Ardmore was home to Jack Murray who was doorman for 30+ years. Pilgrim rarely used the balcony
I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark here.Plus many more movies.
DO, how many seats did this theater have?
I was a district manager for Sameric, Pilgrim Gardens was one of my theaters. During the run of “Stand by Me” ,Phil Collins I town with Genesis, attended a show sitting in the balcony which was usually closed to patrons.
This opened on January 15th, 1969. Grand opening ad in photo section.
I saw the 2001 reissue here in the 80s…which was nice
Micahel Rambo that is so true I should have rememebred the Wynwood since I worked there.
These are Abt’s comments from the homepage item as to Mystery Eric Theatres-
who could forget the exit doors BELOW the screen. Saw Damnation Alley in Sound 360 here (a failed attempt at recreating sensurround). The theater also had 70MM capability (Starman, Raiders, among others) and, for its time, was a well run house.
Mikeoaklandpark, the Sameric chain also didn’t twin the Wynnewood, Mark I, and Eric’s Place Theatres.
Markinthedark, they were exits under the screen. The Eric McDade Mall was also the same until they quaded it.
Are those exit doors in the middle of the screen?
saw 2 movies there BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA THE MOVIE IN 1978 it was a pilot for there new series. and in 1983 clash of the titans. WHEN qvc went out and relocated, i purchased all 12 or so seats i focused on them from first time i saw them.
This was about the only single screen theater that the Sameric corporation didn’t twin.
