The Southgate Theatre opened as a twin on January 31, 1975 with Dick Van Dyke in “Lt. Robin Crusoe” & Charlton Heston in “Airport 1975”. Screen 3 opened on December 20, 1975. Screens 4 & 5 opened on June 26, 1981. It closed as the Southgate 5 Theatre in 2005 when Carmike opened the Battlefield Cinemas 10 right down the road.

This theater didn’t have five screens when it opened.
Opened as a twin cinema on January 31st, 1975. Grand opening ad posted.
