Regal took over the operations of the Phillips Place Cinemas in 2005 after it’s acquisition of Consolidated Theatres. All auditoriums had the latest state of the art stadium seating with plush velvet seats with padded armrests along with tremendous wall to wall screens with full six-channel Dolby digital sound along with two large concession stands. It also had advanced ticket purchasing for coming attractions not to mention acres of free parking.
It was closed on October 16, 2022 due to the bankruptcy of Cineworld/Regal Entertainment Group.

Got word a while ago that this great movie theater will be closed, torn down, and office tower built in its place. They have a lease through 2025. At that point it looks likely this will come to pass. Information from the Charlotte Observer May 24, 2021.
Regal Phillips Place closed March 16, 2020 along with the rest of Regal’s locations for the COVID-19 pandemic. It opened for a week in October of 2020 only to close again with the rest of the Cineworld/Regal locations. It reopened one more time on May 14, 2021. But “Halloween Ends” - the final installment of the horror series - also ended Regal’s run here on October 16, 2022 with the chain trying to re-emerge from bankruptcy declared the previous month.
