The Rex Theater opened May 8, 1947 in North Baton Rouge with the film “I’ll Be Yours” launching its premiere. Pittman Theaters of New Orleans owned the Rex Theater and Dalton Theater in Baton Rouge. The theater was in operation for 10 years before closing in July of 1957 when its lease was lost.
