Located in Hyde, Cheshire, now part of Greater Manchester. The Alexander Pavilion was adjacent to the Theatre Royal on Corporation Street. It was opened as a cine-variety theatre in May 1913 and had seating was provided for 500 in stalls and circle levels. It was owned by Mr. T. Calverley.
In 1929 it was equipped with an Edibell sound system, and by 1937 that had been replaced by a British Acoustic(BA) sound system and was operated by Pictures and Variety Ltd. The Alexander Pavilion was closed in the early-1950’s.
It now operates as the Hyde Festival Theatre present plays upon its stage. Seating is now provided for 230, and there is a small studio space.
