Cosy Nook Cinema

Opened at 6.30pm on 22nd March, 1934 with “My Lips Betray”. On 13th October, 1940 a bomb splinter from an incendiary penetrated the roof. On 1st February 1952 the cinema was fined £10 for failing to keep a daily record of examination of exits by the fireman. Postwar, the proprietors were E. and F.M. Pearson but by 1959 the Leeds based Star Cinemas chain ran the Cosy Nook Cinema, but it closed in 1961. Used as a food and wine store but now replaced by the Salendine Nook branch of Sainsburys.
