Milnsbridge (to the west of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire) is listed separately in the Kinematograph Year Books but became part of the Borough of Huddersfield from 1st April 1937. The Milnsbridge Picture Palace was opened on 8th July 1912 and showed 10 films. The cinema was built of stone. The balcony seated 100 and there were 2 dressing rooms. Huddersfield Mission held services here on Sundays. In February 1933, before incorporation into Huddersfield the cinema showed “Scarface”, a film banned by the Huddersfield Watch Committee. It became part of Walker cinema circuit in 1950’s. It was closed on November 26, 1960 with Dirk Bogarde in “Doctor in the House”. It became premises for British Road Services, a haulage firm who operated premises across the road.

Seating for 769. Extensive modernisation was carried out in 1941. In 1960 it was bought by British Road Services who had a depot opposite. Until closure it was owned by the Walker Cinemas Ltd. The final show was on November 26 1960 with “Doctor in the Houseā. The building was later demolished, the site, in 2022, being a secure car parking compound.
