The first Midland Junction Hall was built in 1893 facing Helena Street, on the South-west corner of Newcastle Road(later Great Northern Highway, now Old Great Northern Highway). The hall may have screened pictures from September 1902 to December 1904, and then occasional commercial film screenings from December 1904 until late-1906 or early-1907 when the new Midland Town Hall was built and the old hall became Carnegie Library(then was demolished and replaced by the Carnegie Garden.
Located on Great Eastern Highway at the northeast corner of Old Great Northern Highway. The New Midland Town Hall opened early in 1907. Screenings ceased in 1959. Roy Mudge screened in Midland Town Hall, one season in school holidays 1-12 October 1990. He planned to screen there regularly, then found out that the Callisthenics Association also planned regular screenings in their theatre(midvale?), so he gave away the idea. The Midland Town Hall underwent extensive restoration in 1995 and was Heritage Listed. The Midland Town hall no longer screens films.
On the southern side of the Midland Town Hall(Great Eastern Highway side), the Talkie Tearooms is still there(intact?). The inside of the Midland Town Hall was used in the music video for the San Cisco song Fred Astaire.
