Built on the site of the former Dillard’s Department Store, the Silverspot Cinemas at University Place Shopping Center opened on October 23, 2015. It was the first new movie theater built in Chapel Hill in 15 years since the opening of the Lumina Cinema at Southern Village in 2000, and the first new multiplex to come in 22 years since the opening of the Timberlyne Cinemas in 1993.

From their website and my understanding this theatre is going to have a restaurant and bar when it is totally finished.
Not to mention live theater productions and live music events too…it will have a restaurant and lounge bar added to the cinema. The cinema will have a mixture of first-run features, independent films, and other productions not to mention showing classic films.
CEO Francisco Schlotterbeck says the theatre is not a luxury theatre it is a sophisticated theatre.
