I WAS DIVISION MANAGER AT OPENING G.C.C. later in a trade of theater with MANN THEATERS I AT THAT TIME HAD MOVE TO MANN, AS G.M. OF OPERATIONS FOR THE CHAIN, THEATER OPEN SLOW THEN AS MANN TOOK IT OVER DID VERY WELL, UNTIL MORE THEATERS MOVE INTO THE AREA, IT WAS A FREE STANDING SIDE BY SIDE TRIPLE LATER WAS SPIT BY OTHERS NONE GONE
Sadly so far no exterior photos the building was cider block white, free standing building facing the mall
i’m putting together a series of books on the history of the denver area drive-ins and indoor theatres – and i discovered the premiere ad for the southglenn 3 in the rocky mountain news – and its date is 12/18/74 rather than the 12/20/74 date stated above.
if anyone has any questions about denver theatre history, please feel free to get in touch at and i’ll be happy to share my research with you. see you at the movies ! – ken mitchell
The Southglenn Cinema I-II-III was opened by General Cinema on December 18th, 1974 and taken over by Mann Theatres in June 1984 and closed in 1988. (BTW Southglenn not Southglen).
