Vogue Cinema

In the city of Wrexham, the Vogue Cinema was a short-lived cinema. Housed above a public house, it opened in July 1981 with “Tess”, starring Nastassja Kinski. It was owned by Barry Flanagan. Miss B. Brookes, the district’s Euro MP, presided at the opening ceremony.

Sadly, the Vogue Cinema was burned out following a fire in September 1986. When the damage had been repaired the cinema did not re-open.

By April 2003, when I visited, the pub was called The Cosmopolitan. Now (December 2015) the building is home to the Eastern Sheraton Chinese Restaurant. It is unclear whether the former cinema space on the first floor is also part of the restaurant.
