The Royal Theater was opened on April 15, 1916 with Mabel Van Buren in “The Girl of the Golden West” & Charles Chaplin in “Cruel, Cruel Love”. Motion Picture World January 19, 1918, page 407 mentions Charles Parten “formerly had the Royal Theatre here”. It was closed in 1922 and went into retail use. Later demolished, the site became a bank drive-through.

Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Barkwill launched the Royal Theatre on April 15, 1916 with “The Girl of the Golden West” and “Cruel, Cruel Love.” The Royal closed in 1922 and the space in the W.F. McGinnis building was retrofitted for other retail interests.
Address was 104 S Main. It was a very old one story brick store, quite narrow. Built sometime before 1884, it is shown as vacant on the 1912 map. This was demolished long ago, and the site is a bank drive-through.
