Opened by ABC Mid-South Theatres. This was a smallish theatre with a wrap-around screen. It was behind Wendy’s (which was then Ossie’s Barbecue), and next to Eslava Creek. It was built more-or-less at the same time Bel Aire Mall was (1967). While I know I saw some movies there when I was in high school (1968-1972), I couldn’t tell you which ones. It was still open in 1989, but don’t remember when it closed, nor when it was demolished (kind of I drove by and it was just gone).

The image Google shows is a little too far south; the theater was literally right behind what is now Wendy’s. The drive-way and parking lot are still there; you could cut through to the Mall through it. After the building was demolished, you could see a pile of dirt where the lobby had been.
It was in operation as late as the summer of 1989, as I can recall seeing ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ listed on the marquee.
My Dad, whose father worked in real estate for decades in Mobile, said that it closed in “late 1990,” and that “Goodfellas” was the final movie playing when it was closed. Not sure when it was demolished. No way to verify this but, just thought I would share.
