Ritz Cinema

Located in Ballymahon, County Longford. The 400-seat Ritz Cinema operated from 1943 to the 1970’s and was originally another of Frank Farrell’s ventures. It was later run by the Connolly family from the late-1940’s in what became known as Connolly Hall. It was equipped with a Philips sound system and was situated on the upper floor of the building. The hall is believed to date from 1860’s and was also a dance-hall, nightclub and more recently the Goldsmith’s Inn.

The building was recently destroyed by fire with the roof collapsing but managed to sell at auction for a reputed €140,000 in 2016.
