The Rex Drive-In was opened in 1950. It was operated by J.V. Kunkel & H.L. Caldwell. It had gone from listings in the 1955 edition of Theatre Catalog, but continued to be listed in editions of Film Daily Yearbook thru 1970, together with the Red River Drive-In which has its own page on Cinema Treasures.

The address is 111 Business 37 S, Clarksville, TX 75426.
The drive-in appears intact in a 1955 and 1964 aerial, so it is possible it was purchased after it was closed in 1955.
Today, the property is the home of Drilltech and the drive-in has been demolished. However, you can still clearly see the ramps.

Same drive-in? Billboard, Nov. 22, 1952: “The Red River Drive-In has been opened by Engelbrecht & Wolfe and Theater Enterprises at Clarksville, Tex. The drive-in has a 300-car capacity.”
The Clarksville Times of August 15, 1968 has an ad for The Red River that states it is open nightly at 8 pm.
This article refers to Clarksville’s old drive-in as the Red River.
The Exhibitor, Nov. 26, 1952: “Engelbrecht and Wolf and Theatre Enterprises opened the new 300-car Red River Drive-In, Clarksville, Tex. Bert Holster, manager, Avalon and Texan, is in charge, and J. T. Roberts has been named drive-in manager.”
Just sayin', if this drive-in opened as the Red River and is later remembered as the Red River, what evidence do we have that it was ever the Rex?
