The Kenrick 8 Cine opened December 7, 1984 to much fanfare. A large lobby and game room and built in a new shopping plaza. Located in a mixed neighborhood of well established homes and new subdivisions. Located right on old Route 66 and not far from the Crestwood Mall.
A four window box office then into the large lobby with a game room on the left and an ice cream shop in the left. The auditoriums were built around the lobby with the two larger ones directly behind the concession stand seating 500. The latest in sound in the auditoriums and stadium seating in some auditoriums.
The Kenrick Cine closed on November 25, 2007, and was demolished in May 2014.

Theatre opened December 7, 1984 with a total of 2468 seats. The breakdown was two of 200 seats; two of 240 seats; and the remainder seating 288, 310, 450 and 540 respectively.
According to rumors, Walmart is thinking about building onto this site.
Two of the auditoriums were converted to stadium seating and these opened in November 1996.
Those photos are depressing, Chuck…well, any closed theater is depressing. This looks a lot like the Halls Ferry 14 after it closed and before it was torn down. Wonder if Wehrenberg is using the building for storage of old equipment, like they did with the Halls Ferry?
By the way, couldn’t help but notice that great big transmission tower in the middle of Kenrick Plaza, near the movie theater. Who’s tower is that? I’m assuming it has to be a TV station, but some radio stations have big towers, too. Anyone know?
It looks like the Kenrick Cine is going to become a Walmart. Here’s the story from the Post-Dispatch: [(http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/shrewsbury-board-gives-nod-to-walmart/article_6a81eb81-58ab-52ac-9b82-2276da1f0b74.html)]
Let me try that link again: Kenrick becomes WalMart
The Kenrick is now in the process of being demolished.
It appears Wehrenberg Theaters is going to give Watson Road another try. Check out this article from the St. Louis Business Journal:
