The Star Theatre dates back to 1913 in the La Crosse Tribune.

On March 26, 1914, the Tribune reported the Star Theatre had obtained the exclusive rights to Pearl White in “The Perils Of Pauline”, produced by the Path-Electric Film Co.

On May 1, 1918, the name was changed to the Rex Theatre, operated my Mr. and Mrs. Henry Liesenfeld, previous owners of the Dome Theatre. The opening film was Ruth Clifford and Monroe Salisbury in “The Savage”.

In 1920 the Rex Theatre was converted to stores and apartments. The building has since been demolishedfor a parking garage.
