The Exhibitor magazine reported on July 29, 1953 that the 250-car Leduc Drive-In had opened. It was owned by The Leduc Drive-In Theatre Limited, with A. E. Staniland, president, and R. Chabillon, general manager.
In his 2020 book “Leduc: Then and Now,” Tom Dirsa wrote that Cluny Evans, Ab Staniland, Gordon Gaetz, and Roy Chabillon pooled their resources to open the Leduc Drive-In “on 12 acres one mile south of the Leduc Cheese factory southwest of Leduc”. Dirsa said there were speakers for 357 cars with room to expand an extra 240. The screen was 63 feet high by 58 feet wide. It included a snack bar and children’s playground. In 1960, Alberta Transportation announced that it would build the Highway 2 bypass through the Drive-In site, so that was its final summer of operation.
