This first opened as the Majestic Theatre in 1916.

The theater received a few name changes throughout the years. It was first renamed the Kingdom Theatre in 1930, then the Grove Theatre on August 1, 1947, and finally the Douglas Theatre in 1959.

After closing as a movie house in 1968, it was purchased by members of the Grove City Little Theatre who restored the theater and reopened as a performing arts center in December of that same year. This didn’t last long and it closed in 1971.

On October 11, 1978, a fire destroyed the former Douglas Theatre building. It was rebuilt and continued to operate as the Little Theatre Off Broadway.
