Replacing an earlier Hillcrest Drive-In which was also on University Avenue (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). This second Hillcrest Drive-In was opened on May 27, 1966 with Sohpia Loren in “Operation Crossbow” aka “The Great Spy Mission” & James Garner in “36 Hours”. It opened with a capacity for 775-cars, later reduced to 500-cars. The screen was 100ft x 40ft. It was closed on September 3, 2000 with a triple bill: D.B. Sweeney in “Dinosaur”, Nicholas Cage in “Gone in 60 Seconds” & Jackie Chan in “Shanghai Noon”.

As of June 2021 Streetview, the status should be demolished and function:Housing
Yes its demolished. Forgot to add that.
The older Hillcrest Drive-In was located on Hudson Road, not University Avenue (but very close to the intersection of University Avenue and Hudson Road), which now houses a Physical Plant.
