August Peter & Alfred Osterhaus opened the 700-seat Lindenhof Theatre on August 29, 1952 featuring unusually wide seats, a glass wool paddling screen, a light plaster ceiling, and two Ernemann VII machines alongside a sound film amplifier system ensured flawless technology. CinemaScope was then installed a few years later.

Heinrich Hanenkamp then took over the theatre in 1962, and was then taken over by Karl Born in 1969. He downgraded the capacity of seats to 511 which gave each patron more legroom, and the large hall did not seem so empty when there were fewer patrons.

The theatre closed in mid-1978 following Born’s retirement from theatre business.
