Media Six launched its Hollywood Cinema on March 31, 2000. The company owned Cable Six for cable television operations and decided to carve out a small four-screen theater seating 75 patrons each. Opening titles were “The Tigger Movie”, “American Beauty”, “Pitch Black” and a free repertory screening of “Days of Thunder”. Despite Media Six declaring bankruptcy, the Hollywood Cinema soldiered on. A fifth screen was added in 2000.
In 2013, the quadplex made the transition to digital and was renamed the Hollywood Digital Cinema. The HDC closed on March 22, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cinema transitioned quickly to an outdoor, drive-in theatre accommodating 60 cars within two weeks. The opening title was “Trolls World Tour” paired with “The Invisible Man”. Its hilltop setting proved to be satisfying for a cadre of patrons wanting to see films outside on the big screen. The indoor venue reopened on September 3, 2020 with the Henry County-shot feature film, “My Brother’s Crossing” playing hourly across all four auditoriums.
