As advertised in the Petaluma Daily Morning Courier, the Star Nickelodeon opened February 8, 1908, with motion pictures and illustrated songs, admission 5 cents. The theater was listed on Sanborn Maps 1910 as Nickelodeon, next to the BPOE Lodge at 138 Kentucky.
Later reports noted the Nickelodeon had 300 seats and was operated by Gauron & Dahlmeir.
By May 1912 newspaper advertisements listed it as the Princess Theatre and on October 16, 1917, it became the Kentucky Theatre, managed by J.C. Wayne. The Daily Morning Courier advertised its first movie as “On Trial”, starring Sidney Ainsworth.
The Morning Courier reported the closing of the Kentucky Theatre on April 7, 1918, because J.C. Wayne was leaving to become the county agent for Moline and Beman Tractors.
The 1949 Sanborn Maps show it as “Printing”.
