The Cinema Impero in Bra was inaugurated on October 28, 1938, in the premises of a former tavern, quickly becoming a cultural landmark thanks to its large hall with 549 seats, a gallery, and an orchestra pit. In the 1940’s, its programming alternated between films and variety shows, and in 1941 it was purchased by Pietro Burlando and Pilade Zoofito, who had relocated to Bra during the war. Renamed “Libertà” after the war, it returned to its original name in 1952. During the 1960’s, a loudspeaker was installed outside, while in the 1970’s, it underwent an elegant renovation, featuring an innovative system to extract cigarette smoke. In 1999, the cinema was transformed into a three-screen multiplex, and starting in 2009, it transitioned to digital projection, completed in 2013 with the introduction of 3D technology. In 2024, it adopted energy-saving laser projectors and renovated its flooring, foyer, and the seats in the main hall, reaffirming its status as a cultural symbol able to adapt to the times.
The Cinema Impero Multisala, located in the heart of the historic center of the charming town of Bra, remains a family-run cinema to this day. It is a place where one can still enjoy the authentic, human, and collective experience of cinema as it once was.
