MOVIX Honmoku

The Mycal Shochiku Cinemas Honmoku opened its doors on June 29, 1996 by the Shochiku chain, which at the time was established as a joint venture with Mycal that same month. After Mycal’s bankruptcy, the theater closed for five days on April 25, 2004, before reopening on April 30 of that same year as the MOVIX Honmoku.

The MOVIX Honmoku closed for the final time on January 16, 2011 due to the rapid expansion of other multiplexes across Yokohama and its also the fact that it would require significant capital investment in order to continue operating, but they refused.
