Hooky Hutto & IMAX

Es Vedra Cinema launched its new brand of Family Destination Entertainment Center (FEC) called Hooky here in Hutto, Texas. The FEC exhibition movement found cinemas diversifying with fewer screens and more gaming and food options. Hooky launched in time for major summer releases including 2025’s installment of “Mission: Impossible” and Disney’s live action “Lilo and Stitch” films launching on May 22, 2025.

With eight screens including one premium, large format IMAX screen and two Dolby Atmos auditoriums, the Hooky FEC offered 12 lanes of bowling, expanded arcade, and a scratch kitchen with bar. Austin-based Es Vedra also operated the Showbiz and Violet Crown brands.

It took over this venue which was on the drawing boards as an EVO Location. But Es Vedra and Elevate Entertainment Group split in February 2025 with Elevate retaining EVO while Es Vedra got the Showbiz and Violet Crown Theater brands. The Waxahachie, Texas and Homestead, Florida Showbiz venues were rebranded as EVO locations going forth with Elevate.

Hutto was to have received a Flix Brewhouse drawn up around the time of the 2020 pandemic. But in the Summer of 2021, that plan was scrapped by Flix making the FEC by Es Vedra more palatable. Elevate’s in-progress EVO for Nashville Yards was also changed mid-project to an Es Vedra’s Hooky which would be the second location for the brand late in 2025.
