Etele Cinema

In the Ujbuda district of Budapest, the foundation stone for the Etele Plaza was laid in November 2018. Completion of this €300m project was set for the second half of 2020. However, presumably the pandemic took its toll, and it eventually opened in September 2021.

The multiplex cinema that inevitably formed an important part of the leisure offering originally opened with 14 screens, with a 15th being added later on.

As with the Plaza, the Etele Cinema is decidedly ‘upmarket’, providing a premium viewing experience.

This includes three special types of auditorium: The “impressively spectacular” PIXEL screen, in which the colours of the northern lights are brought to life; PREMIUM screens which have their own “modern, elegant” reception area and are equipped with “super comfortable, adjustable” armchairs and two KIDS screens, which have “friendly lighting, lower chairs and movable soft pouffes”. There is also a separate “family box”.
