Sheridan Drive-In

The Sheridan Drive-In was built by the Cohen family, who still operate the Transit Drive-In. The Sheridan Drive-In opened on July 7, 1951 with Joel McCrea in “South of St. Louis” and had a capacity for 700-cars.

In 1957 it was moved 1,000ft to Ensminger Drive, due to repositioning of Interstate 190. A second screen opened on May 21, 1970 enabling an expansion to 850-cars. It was closed in 1981.

Opened on 7/7/1950 with “South of St Louis”. Moved more 1000 feet to a new location in Ensminger Drive in 1957, because of the new interchange for I-190/I-290. Closed in 1981. Demolished(date unknown?). The site is now Interstate Commerce Centre.

Boxoffice, June 1, 1970: “Sidney J. Cohen announces excellent business at his new Sheridan II Drive-In at Sheridan Drive and Ensminger Road. The 850-car ozoner is equipped with a 100-foot screen and the last word in projection and sound equipment. "Loving” was the opening film"
