I think they will be around for a long time because they do generate a lot of business. Eventually they will have to switch Digital & raise the price a bit when they do .

Don’t expect much but it’s decent enough . You’re not going to get top notch picture & sound. This theater uses regular 35mm film & no stereo sound , but they do have one large theater room that uses DTS. It is a good option for families , so the trade off is not a bad one.

I remembered my family went to see Alien in 79 The most terrifying experience i’ve had in a theater. It was great ! I also remember seeing Dick Tracy in 90 with a Trailer of Die Hard 2. In early 92 it was briefly turned into a second run theater, I remembered seeing The last boyscout there.

I only lived a block away, it was my childhood going every weekend with my family. PG films on the reading rd side, R rated films on the norwood side . My main memories of course was seeing Bruce Lee films there & at the end of each film there were lights that came on located at the very top of the screen , swings in front of the theater where kids played until it got dark. Good memories .

I remember this theater was known for it’s 70mm engagements. I only went there once in 89' to see Indiana Jones & the last crusade, It was spectacular ! I also remember Die Hard in 88' playing there & True Lies in 94' I know Die Hard was playing in 70mm but i’m not sure if True Lies was in 70mm . Though there were talks of it playing in certain theaters in 70mm in 94' i’m not sure if they did away with it by then.

I remember seeing Who framed roger rabbit ? , Cocktail (yes i saw it in theaters) & Titan A.E. in 2000 . I’m not sure if they had a name change or not by that time. it was the last time i went there. In 88' with roger & cocktail playing at that time i remember peaking in another theater during a trip to the rest room hearing huge explosions & action it was a known film that was generating lots of buzz it was called “Die Hard” . Awesome !

It’s a very nice theater. My wife & i got committed to rave in 03' i guess we liked a more traditional movie theaters but there both State of the art in quality . I’m not a too much of a IMAX fan. I saw Sucker Punch in IMAX there which was a excellent presentation though. I still go there from time to time because of memories of the old showcase cinema in my childhood in the 80’s .

This was clearly the premier theater in the city. Noted for it’s 70mm presentations through out the 80’s . I’m not certain but i thought there were a few screens that still had 70mm even after the upgrade but i’m not so sure.

I used to live a block away & the demise of that theater was security issues with young adults & teenagers on the weekends. I only went 4-5 times in the entire time it was open . The matrix reloaded was the last film my wife & i went to see. We didn’t like going there. What makes that so bad is we aren’t older people we’re in our 30’s . They had a very nice 1 room auditorium that was capable of showing 70mm prints. People never knew how good they had it.
