The Seaford Cinemas is located on Merrick Road.

They sell discounted tickets up until 6:00 each day including weekends. They allow purchase of tickets up to three days before the scheduled movie, except on Tuesdays when there are discounted tickets all day.

Originally a 6-screen cinema, recently (around 2007/2008) two stadium seated auditoriums have been added.

The theater appears well kept.

Was this a closed theatre before it became the Seaford 6?

I'm not sure. That would be interesting to find out.

Here's their official website by the way:

Recently someone told me about this place and I don't think there ever was a movie theater in Seaford. I mean, I could be wrong but I used to be in that area all the time and I never saw it. Interesting that someone would build a new theater "down" there but I can understand why. The area is very underserved. A megaplex would do extremely well on the south shore of Nassau county.

This is the first time I've been in this theatre. It looks almost like the Merrick Quad. This does not have stadium seating unlike the Merrick. Is it owned by the same people as the Merrick or different owners?

It used to be a burlington coat factory. building had a bad leak in roof. they did a major renovation job on the builing when they converted it.
and it does have stadium seating, just not in every theater.

Seaford Cinemas was originally owned by Frank Corva (architect), Warren Werzberg and many other silent partners. It first opened on Memorial Day of 2000 and was never a movie theater previously. Frank Corva soon built the Merrick Theater, but is not as successful because he is not business savvy. The owners could not pay their debt and is now owned by Boston Concessions Goup. There is two stadium seat auditoriums (240 each) and 4 smaller theaters (~140)...... I hope that clears things up. I worked there for 4 years...... ps... stay away from freak show fritz.

This theater used to be the Mid Island Dept Store. I don't remember it being burlington, but i could be wrong.

I am just glad that I do not have to picket there anymore. Fritz is still there???

fritz was fired then, rehired when boston concessions came in. he is not one of my favorite people.

jacey.... the theater was Mid Island Dept Store for a very long time, and then a burlington coat factory for a solid year or so. Im pretty sure there was a Big and Tall Dept Store there too.

It appears that Fritz has used DracuGoth charm to hypnotize his latest victims. :)

I think this has expanded to 8 screens. I was there last year when it was 6.

If it has expanded to 8 screens. Please update the listing to show 8.

Try an email to the webmasters. I don't know if they read every message posted in eavery theater.

Gerry, did they cut two of the theaters in half to make the 8, or did they build onto the building?

I think it is 8 screens Bway. Click the link for their website in the second comment above. Then click on Now Playing.

Please update the listing to show 8 screens. My friend's wife was in that theatre a couple of weeks ago & she was in theatre 7. They just added 2 more stadium seated auditoriums to this theatre.

Wow! I grew up in the 60s and 70s near Seaford and this theater didn't exist.

I wish it had......

The theatre is now owned by Boston Culinary Group.

Boxoffice magazine reported in May 1960 that a new theater was planned in the Bar Harbor Shopping Center near Seaford.
posted by ken mc on Jan 26, 2009 at 6:54pm
Is that this theater?

posted by Lost Memory on Jan 26, 2009 at 6:56pm
The first two posters weren't sure if this was a re-opened theater. I think Seaford Cinemas was also in a shopping mall, so there may be a connection.
posted by ken mc on Jan 26, 2009 at 7:03pm
Try reading a little further to the poster that gives the opening year as 2000.

posted by Lost Memory on Jan 26, 2009 at 7:06pm
Right, says it was opened in 2000 and was never a theater previously. That may or may not be correct, since this article at least suggests that there was a prior mall theater in Seaford.
posted by ken mc on Jan 26, 2009 at 7:08pm
And the article could be wrong. "was planned" doesn't mean that it happened.

Everybody could be wrong. That's we call these discussions.

Yeah, right. LMAO

posted by Lost Memory on Jan 26, 2009 at 7:14pm
Have they altered any of the original screens to have stadium seating?
