The Lyric was a second-generation theatre meaning built after the advent of "talkies" and before Cinerama. Both the Columbia Lyric and Princess theatres were, according to one journal, "spacious and commodious with every facility of modern equipment". Unfortunately, the Princess was destroyed by fire in 1949 and the Lyric folded three years later.
