In the late-1980's I found the Texas Theater to be closed. It was housed in a nice light brown brick corner building. It had a neat "Texas" size vertical sign. Inset into five individual red blocks, T-E-X-A-S was spelled out and trimmed in neon.

It was surprising to find a theater like this closed and vacant in this time period.

I saw a painted sign on the corner of this building that said Word Of Truth Church. Not sure if they are currently occupying the building. Did not go up close, but I did take a photo from across the street.

In 1955 the Texas Theater had 1,300 seats.

In the 1960s, Mr.LaNoue was the manager. I believe it was a Hall Industries Theater.

An architect's rendering of the proposed Texas Theatre in Kingsville was published in the July 2, 1949, issue of Boxoffice. The Texas Theatre was designed by Jack Corgan.
