Built in Spanish Colonial style, the A & G Theatre was listed as open in 1941 with a seating caopcaity of 600. It closed sometime in the 1970's. For sometime after its closing there was a snow ball stand set up in the box office. The theatre was partially destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Surprisingly, the building did survive Hurricane Katrina. All the buildings around it were destroyed. I often wanted to see inside it. Now its easy since all the doors were blown off. I am sure it will have to be demolished as unsafe now. We also lost the long closed Bay Star Theatre. Jim Dalrymple, Waveland/Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

The former A&G was still standing as of Sat 20 October but it's in really bad shape. The adjacent building - seen in Lost Memory's photo from 11 Aug 07 - was even more devastated.

The A&G Theatre (Ames & Gaspard)was built in 1927 at a cost of $60,000. The building was fire proof and was "the last word in motion picture theatre building" according to the local paper.
