Originally built in 1902 as the New House Hotel (renamed the Nevada Hotel in 1910), the building was converted into a movie theatre in the late-1920’s, as the Nevada Theatre. The theatre remained in business through fall of 1947, when its owner closed it and built a new movie house on 6th Street (also called the Nevada Theatre, which itself has closed, and today stands vacant and has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
