Originally built in 1902 as the New House Hotel (renamed the Nevada Hotel in 1910), the building was converted into a movie theater in the late-1920’s, as the Nevada Theatre. The theater remained in business through the late-1940’s, when its owner closed it and built a new movie house on Sixth Street (also called the Nevada, which itself has closed, and today stands vacant).
