The Broadway Theater opened on March 12, 1919 with Anita Stewart in “Virtuous Wives”. It was closed in 1933.
It reopened as the State Theatre on October 20, 1933 and closed in 1981. It was demolished in the mid to late-1990’s.

Small picture of the State sandwiched between the National and Colonial in this photo, dating from the early 1960s, judging from the cars on the street.

No, Loew’s never operated the State. I used to work there until it closed in 1981, and it was operated by Neighborhood Theatres, Inc.
A permit for the Broadway Theatre was issued in 1918. The theater was designed by Carneal & Johnston, and commissioned by A. L. Strauss. The contractor was the J. T. Wilson Company.
A building permit for alterations to this house, under the name State Theatre, was issued in 1948, with A. O. Budina listed as the architect.
This one opened as the Broadway Theatre on March 12, 1919 with Anita Stewart in “Virtuous Wives”.
This reopened as State on October 20th, 1933. Grand opening ad posted.
