This small theater opened in the Condado tourist area in the early 1970's. Right away it specialized in adult movies. From "Emmanuelle" to "Last Tango in Paris" to "Caligula" they all played here. And they would play each movie for months!!!

In the late 1970's a second screen was opened and it would feature more mainstream fare such as "Manhattan"

In the early 1980's, with the availability of soft porn on cable tv and videos, the Cinema Condado's end was inevitable.

From a classy theater showing European movies it ended up a forgotten cinema showing Mexican skin flicks.

The Condado closed down in the mid 80's and its premises were turned into office space.

I remember this cinema due to the very low ceilings in this mixed use apartment and commercial / restaurant space building. Some plans have been thought to include cinemas in this area but real estate pricing and parking are the problems.

I remember at least six movies that played here: "A Touch of Class," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Sounder," "Siddhartha," "Three Women" and "Caligula." Others will come to mind.
