I remember at least six movies that played here: “A Touch of Class,” “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Sounder,” “Siddhartha,” “Three Women” and “Caligula.” Others will come to mind.
I remember it for playing Last Tango in Paris for like about a year I believe it stopped playing it when the goverment intervene after some complaints. I might be wrong, but I remember something like that.
I was the publicist and did the advertising for the theatre
we it opened and till 1980.
George Dennis built it and booked all of the films that included
Short Eyes, Swept Away and Last Tango in Paris.
I remember this cinema due to the very low ceilings in this mixed use apartment and commercial / restaurant space building. Some plans have been thought to include cinemas in this area but real estate pricing and parking are the problems.
